MWONL is a provincial, non-profit, voluntary organization that came into existence in 1982 after a conference held in Toronto in 1981 on Immigrant Women. The conference encouraged minority women to form a large coalition, which is at present known as the National Organization of Immigrant and Visible Minority Women of Canada (NOIVMWC). The organization offers a broad range of programs and services to immigrant women. It developed this resource book as an information source intended to help
empower immigrant and visible minority women to increase their role in decision-making by providing information on women’s equality issues. The document also provides information on the existing services to women of different ethnicities.
