Cultural Consultation Service
The Cultural Consultation Service (CCS) of the Jewish General Hospital in Montreal provides comprehensive assessment and evaluation of patients from diverse cultural backgrounds, including immigrants, refugees and members of ethnocultural communities, as well as Indigenous peoples. The Service is available to assess new patients in psychiatry and medicine as well as those in ongoing treatment who require re-evaluation in the region. Referrals must have a primary clinician or case manager who requests the consultation. The CCS is also available for inservice training and organizational consultation nationally.

Mental Health Practitioners Who Serve Specific Ethnocultural Communities
Language barriers impede access to health care among the members of ethnic minorities, and their negative effects are even more visible in mental health care. Counselling psychologists who work with the clients in their native language have a capacity to understand them and their situations more fully. In addition, these psychologists often come from the same cultural background and participate in the same immigrant/refugee community as their clients, allowing them to better understand the culture and the politics involved in each case.

The following provincial professional organizations of psychologists allow you to search for psychotherapists by the languages they work with:
